Behind the Scenes of Selling Vintage Online – Running a vintage booth is one adventure, but selling online is its own kind of magic. While my booth gives locals a chance to browse in person, Etsy connects me with vintage lovers all over the United States. From photo sessions to shipping days, here’s a peek at what happens behind the scenes of my online shop.

Capturing Treasures in Photos

Before an item makes its way into my Etsy shop, it has to shine on camera. I gather props, find the best light, and do my best to capture what makes each piece special. Sometimes it’s the way a glass pitcher glimmers in the sunlight, other times it’s the quirky grin of a cookie jar.

Good photos are more than pretty pictures—they’re a promise that says, “This treasure is ready to be loved again.”

Listing with Love

Once the photos are ready, it’s time for descriptions. This is where research and storytelling meet. I dig into the details—Who made it? When was it popular? What’s its story?—so buyers can connect with more than just an object.

Each listing is like writing a mini history lesson wrapped in a sales pitch. The right words help people see not just what the item is, but why it matters.

Packing & Shipping with Care

The real fun begins when something sells. Shipping day feels a little like sending off a child to summer camp—you want them to arrive safely, ready to make new memories.

I wrap each piece with care (lots of bubble wrap, padding, and sturdy boxes) and often tuck in a small thank-you. Then it’s off to the post office, where treasures head across the country—to begin a new chapter in someone else’s story.

Connecting Through Stories

Just like in my booth, the best part of selling online is hearing from buyers. I love when someone messages me to say, “My mom had one just like this,” or shares a photo of their new piece styled in their home. It’s a reminder that vintage isn’t just about collecting—it’s about connection.

My Final Thoughts

Selling vintage online may look like snapping a few photos and printing a shipping label, but it’s so much more than that. It’s preserving stories, sparking memories, and making sure beautiful old things find new life.

Whether you shop my booth in person or browse my Etsy store from miles away, I’m grateful to share these treasures with you.
